Thank you Linda. So far I've shyed away from the wool blends as I wasn't sure how much use they'd be. I won't now.

Another marvellous blanket, Laurie. Philippa, wool blends will keep a child warmer even if it can't be used by children who have open fires.

I find a lot of that (wool blends) but wasn't sure whether it was right for KAS. I know that wool is needed - for it's fire retardancy and ability to stay warm while wet - for blankets for children in homes with no electricity and…

Various companies sell pure wool online and have low shipping rates within their country and overseas. I found an Irish company that sends wool to Canada for just $4, not bad at all.  If one doesn't have a wool shop nearby (I do but…

Brilliant Laurie, just brilliant...these could qualify easily as January gemstone squares, I've got some polished semi-precious rocks that are these shades.  Lopi is great stuff and they'll be delighted to get a 100% wool package from…

This is lovely-and Lopi wool is SO warm-you are right, Laurie, I remember my sister using it in brown grey and cream for a Norwegian style sweater in the 70's , though I cannot remember what she looked like wearing it!

Bev - Thanks, and, Lopi is a Reynolds 100% wool bulky yarn - I haven't used it in years.  It was big in the 70's for Scandanavian sweaters and afgans.  Almost impossible to find it still here on Cape Cod.

Hi Laurie

The Knit A squillion tally is now in with the Combined Tally 2012, found in 'featured discussions'. You need to scroll down that page, towards the bottom, and you will see where the squares first comes in to the count. :)

Hi Laurie! I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I uploaded a .zip file of the African Animal cards. Hopefully you'll be able to download it okay and finally have the cards in hand!

Hope all is well! :o)

Hi Laurie! Were you able to download the alphabet cards? If not, I'm sure we can figure out another way for you to get them. Let me know when you get a chance.

Thanks!

Hi Laurie, thanks for your comments about the blanket.  My friend's mother was a beautiful knitter and each of the squares is a different pattern.

Hi Laurie,
Love looking at all your beautiful work Laurie. you are a true inspiration to me and I'm sure many others.
The pattern for the little red jumper was one I found on Ravelry, and it was free. The next time I would cast on and do the neck in a smaller needle as I felt it might slip off the shoulders of a small child hence the crochet round the neck.
If you're not a member of Ravelry let me know and I'll find out the website or blog that it can be found on.
Love Dawn x
