That Warm Fuzzy Feeling 2018

This discussion aims to give you an up-close and personal look at what happens on opening days at the Knit-a-Square barn.  I'm a partially-sighted volunteer who who attends with my guide dog Tango and my driver Bongi, who has also become a keen volunteer.  While everyone else opens parcels, sorts squares and packs items ready for distribution, I listen and take mental notes so I can pass on something of the atmosphere on the ground.  Enjoy!See More

Profile Information

I've been a keen knitter for most of my life, starting as a reluctant ten-year-old in Housecraft class at school, then taking on all sorts of challenges in my early twenties, like cable-knit cushion covers and Kaeff Facet-designed garments. However, my gradual loss of sight through early-onset macular degeneration limited my access to patterns and I moved into knitting squares for charity in 2003. Finding KAS South Africa is thrilling for me as I've been actively looking for fellow knitters and a way to participate in something bigger than myself. I love what the organisation represents and applaud those who have made it what it is!
