Way to go Mary, you absolutely have a talent for making hats. I have to keep a close eye on mine or they can end up verrry strange indeed, lol.

Oh wow, that is GORGEOUS.  I love the color and the pattern and look how lacy it is and how textured. This is PERFECT for a lacy square...the texture and the little holes all trap the warmth for the child plus they can run their fingers over…

Hi Jeanne! Thanks so much for informing me. I am pleased to hear when garments, slippers or whatever will not fit in one place, it will go somewhere else, in this case Zimbabwe. So good to hear that, because I know that they have…

Oh well, if it's "only a few balls" I guess we can forgive that one Belinda. (wink wink) I've bought some great yarn online and I agree, just double up the thinner stuff.  Aran is great to work with, I like it too.

They're always delighted to meet another KASer down in South Africa. :D I think it re-energizes everyone to meet up.  And expect, if you visit, to end up sorting blanket squares or helping with a distribution.

If that's in wool that guy will be scratching for a week!  Certainly more thrilling to look at than the average thermal undies, LOL.

Kathy, fall and winter will soon be upon South Africa as a lot of us warm up again. The children really need jumpers and vests.  We have patterns here, we only ask they be 3 inches longer than wider in the torso, to cover often swollen little…

Kathy, how the heck can you "accidentally" buy yarn unless your more frugal "virtuous" side is trying to look the other way? LOL.  That is a great excuse though, I must use it next time hubby sees new yarn I've bought…

Hi Jeanne! Thanks so much for informing me. I am pleased to hear when garments, slippers or whatever will not fit in one place, it will go somewhere else, in this case Zimbabwe. So good to hear that, because I know that they have also nothing at all and that KAS is a loving and caring organisation, knowing where and when things are needed. Sorry I can't very well express what I mean but I am sure that you will understand it. Also good to know which sizes to make garments and slippers, thanks for that too. For the blankets I know the sizes, but sometimes I get too emotional and want to have, of the left over wool, the best for the child, resulting in hats and babyslippers in the same colours as the blanket. Nonetheless Jeanne, all kids are equal to me and when the various garments, hats and slippers will be divided between (amongst?) children it is fine with me. As long as we can make the children smile. The more the better. Love and big hug, Anneke

Thank you Jeanne for the comment on the Izzy doll and green squares with sailboat.  I only have one ball of that green and want to get more for backgrounds for animal squares.  Question:  is it O.K. to send stuffed dolls like this Izzy doll as long as the stuffing is new - I used polyester quilt bat stuffing, or do they have to be puppet style dolls without stuffing only?

Thanks for the welcome and all the info.  I'm enjoying it already!!

My crochet squares still seem to be a bit big, but I sent them anyway.  Do we leave a long tail on both ends for sewing together or just one?
