Hi Pauline,
Thanks for your comments on my photos. Unfortunately I do not actually have one of those hooks that Sue told me about but I think you're right, a crochet hook would probably work. I saw a video on youtube once that was using one so I'll have a try, on the crocheted squares anyway as their ends are so short. I've done the rest now so I'll be able to send them soon.
Mandy has got me into applique now though so I have rather time-wasted today. Like you and your knitting I haven't done anything like that for a very long time, in my case since I was a child and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Still not very good at crochet after months of trying but that's coming to it old - obviously pays to learn as a child even if you don't use it much. I was just looking at your squares and admiring them.

Thanks for the comments. The hat looms are so easy to use. Just like a knitting nancy or french knitting bobbin that we used as kids. Do a web search for hat loom and you are sure to find plenty of sources. I always use these for my hats as I need no pattern or counting. I wind, hook over and measure the length, draw the end loops together, sew off, done.

Now that's fun thinking of another middle of the night knitter!! We might start a group Midnight Knitters! lol. I see that some of your squares look as if they are in the same blended wool as I used on mine. Love your kitties all curled up in the corner too!

Hi Pauline Yes that it what I meant for tunisian stitch. I'm not sure if that's the name the opposite side is called sand stitch. I don't know which side. Anyway easy peasy is the way to go for patterns just two rows. Anymore and I'm unpicking as much as I knit...

Dear Pauline, if you do, please come and see us.
The 14th of August is the magic date of our KAS Fundraising day and you are very, very welcome indeed.
The venue is not far from Poole town in Dorset, in a small village called Lytchett Minster and where we meet is at a Craft Centre called: the Courtyard and we meet in Dylans Restaurant and on the day we will be there outside and we do hope the sun will shine all day.
If you are in need of a hair cut, save it for the day as myself and other hairdressers, including my Tutor from the College will be there offering our services all in KAS aid so that we can pay post and packages.
Hope to see you there.
love

The sleep-bag things that babies sleep in these days are known amongst my daughter's friends as growbags! the Kascuddles are a similar principal. I thought of trying to make one out of fleece as it's beyond my knitting skills.
I am in the Dordogne. Had the tail end off the tempete, just blew the garden about a bit. Sunny and warm again today. warm enough to eat outside at lunchtime. This is my house http://www.bandbindordogneforsale.webs.com/ which is for sale at the moment. I have run it as a holiday retreat for people who have been bereaved.
Bon weekend to everyone.

Oh dear, I had to chuckle when I read your comment about your daughter putting her son in a grobag ! When my brother lived in England he had grobags for his tomatoes. I had not heard the term used for babies. But they really are such a wonderful idea..
I see from above that you are living in France. Were you affected by the recent storms? My brother and sister-in-law also live in France now(Drome/Provencal) and said that they have been having lovely weather.
Hope you have a lvely w/end. Jen
