Hi from snowy Melton Mowbray - I was wondering if you had seen my post in the UK discussion group about the KAS 10th birthday party I am organising this August. It would be lovely if some of my local East Midlands KAS sisters were able to be there.
Hi Sharon - and a belated welcome to the forum! - I am having a Knit A Square event at my home in Melton Mowbray on 19th August. I don't know if you would be interested or even available - but if you would like to know more please let me know. Rebecca
A warm welcome to Knit A Square..... from over here in Western Australia.
Knitting or crocheting an 8" square or two or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the vulnerable children of South Africa. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world. You are encouraged to knit/crochet in any stitch you prefer, but we do ask that they not be too 'lacy' as warmth is our highest priority. PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone to all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page you can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/wish-list-2017
Clicking on the 'Helpful Hints' tab at the top of the page, will possibly answer many initial questions you may have .Any other questions...please ask...we love to help. :)) You can also find postage information and a packing slip to send with parcels there.
If you'd like to see what other KASers have been making please click on the photo tab at the top of the page....and feel free to add photos of your creations...we would love to see them. Just click on 'add photos' and follow the prompts.
If you want to see the most active discussions at present, you may like to click on the 'main page' tab and they are listed in the centre of that page...just pick one and click on it. It is a large website, but with so much fun and info.
Hi Sharon! Welcome to Knit-a-Square! This is a great community to belong to and I hope you will find yourself very much at home. The latest newsletter is out so be sure to visit the links and get to know some of the people involved. Are you a knitter or a crocheter? Or perhaps you just love the concept and want to add your support?
KAS supplied blankets, hats, handwarmers and toys to over 5,500 children in 2017. If Ronda’s wishes come true, in 2018 even more children will receive the gift of warmth and love from around the world.
