"These have been knitted over a 12 month period. My daughter is. 15 hour bus ride away, and my mum a 12 hour bus ride. I've had a few trips over to mum since Christmas whilst she was in hospital/ rehab, and then home, so I've had many hours…"
Hi Susanne. I see you have already caught up with the news that Ronda wants those of us in the forum to join the squares as they are overwhelmed with squares to join. I have been crocheting them together as it suits me. I put a demo photo on the forum. I lay out 10 and then hold them back to back and crochet a continuous join across the five meeting sides. I have also decided to knit five in one go i.e. knitting a strip. The tails are good for sewing together. I took my off 35 squares worth of tails and knitted 18 fish to add on. Maudie
Hi Susan :) I hope you enjoyed your short stay in Holland, unfortunately the weather was grey and cold. Also I heard that there was a dance festival and a marathon in Amsterdam this weekend, so I hope it was not too overcrowded :))
Next time you visit Holland we hopefully can meet, eat and chat and there is a lot more to see in my tiny country :)
Wish you a good flight to Milan, speak soon, take care.
Hi Susan, I hope you receive this message. It should be great to meet! A lovely surprise that you are in Amsterdam! I live at about 24 miles from Amsterdam. Till when are you here? Where, when can we meet? Anneke :)
I finally got my 1st square for June finished today.....lol. I sent a parcel a couple of days ago, but have quite a few more squares to de-tail and butterfly, then send. Went to our local yarn/fabric/haberdashery store today to find a replacement for my favourite yarn sewing needle (my old favourite has gone missing) and treated myself to a 50gm ball of silvery 'fun fur' yarn ($4) in readiness for July....lol.
I hope you had a GREAT holiday/visit with your family. :))
Sorry Susanne, no idea, but it is substantial - will try to find out. Some large packs go to outreach teams, the Chiawelo ladies bravely use a supermarket trolley to collect and deliver their squares & blankets trundling through the streets for over a mile each way! We also have two correction centres involved, whereby inmates are required to provide restitution as part of their rehabilitation programme. Wandi and Lindi now use a taxi each from Soweto - they sit squished in the corner with the completed blankets on the inward journey, and, blanket packs on the homeward one!
