We run a challenge each month. For the next three months it is all about squares. We have a grand total of 55,900 squares we are trying to achieve and would love you to participate.

Don't forget to post photographs of your work. We have an awesome gallery of the work of the KAS community which is really inspiring.

Did you receive the latest ezine? If not you can view it here: http://www.knit-a-square.com/Square_Circle-backissues.html. Dear Val, most of us have developed 'make do and mend' parcels as the post office jiggy bags are quite costly. Large Tyvek envelopes are very strong and hold 24-28 squares if you can get them. I use plastic woven sacks (some goods arrive at my business in them) and cover them in strong bin bags with plenty of brown tape. It was good to read your enthusiasm for this amazing project and that you are yet another caring soul joining the team.

Dear Val,

The best way to send is under 2kg and no more than 90cm in length or width - post surface mail. Although it takes longer it is certainly much cheaper than air. The vital element is to enter nil value on the customs declaration plus mark No Commercial Value, For Charity Only. At the moment KAS is trialing a system whereby you would down load an address label with a bar code. Once the parcel arrives in Soweto they will scan it can send an e-mail reply to say the parcel has received. Parcels don't appear to go astray, even they take a round-about route, but the paperwork at the other end is time consuming. For the time being please put in a note stating what has been sent and your name so the items can be logged against your name on the spreadsheet. If you need any further info please do not hesitate to ask. All the best, Pam

Hello! Val, Welcome to the KAS forum and I hope you will enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? When you've had a chance to look around the site you would be very welcome to join the UK group for more local news and chat. Around the world caring people are all taking direct action and team-working with the Soweto Comfort Club - it is making a difference to many parentless children. Very glad your 'browsing' hit us! Many members have discovered KAS by internet accident. Kind regards, Pam
