Hi Yael. I suppose I should have mentioned that we immigrated to Australia 25 years ago so it's been a long time. It was very difficult to leave everything behind but I'm very grateful that we did. Robert Mugabe has ruined a very special…

Knowing next to nothing about Zimbabwe, I just looked it up on the Internet. Life expectancy is 45.77 years, which is, I assume, for indigenous populations there. It also says that economic opportunities are dwindling and people are leaving for…

Hi Kalai, Oh, yes, I agree that South Africa is beautiful, particularly the Cape Town area. However, I found the poverty distressing and it diminished the beauty to me. You're going in March? How nice. How many squares or blankets will you…

If I don't speak to you beforehand, have a very happy Christmas and a safe new year.

Hi Yael. I suppose I should have mentioned that we immigrated to Australia 25 years ago so it's been a long time. It was very difficult to leave everything behind but I'm very grateful that we did. Robert Mugabe has ruined a very special country. Not caring about anyone or anything apart from his own wealth and power (he's been in power nearly 30 years) evil old dictator.

Where are you from Yael?

We will be having the reunion in South Africa. Zimbabwe no longer has the infrastructure. It's true that people live behind gates and bars in South Africa, but once you're used to it, it doesn't detract from every day life. It's just what you're used to I suppose. I lived there for a couple of years in my early 20's and I loved it! It is hard to deal with the poverty though x x x

We'll take as many blankets and squares as possible. We are going for a huge family reunion which has been in the planning for many years so it's very exciting indeed!

Hi Yael

Thank you very much for your message. South Africa is a most beautiful country don't you thinks so? It's hard to see so much poverty though which is why I think KAS has been so We're so happy that you stumbled across KAS too! We need lovely supporters like yourself to keep the program going.good for our family.

I am sure that if people were travelling to SA they'd be happy to take along some squares, the only problem is, if you advertise that you're heading over you may be inundated!

We're heading over in March next year which will be wonderful but there's only so much you can carry right?!?

Thank you for your support Yael, I hope to hear from you again soon x x x

Have a look at the November challenge - the SLIP-OVER (under challenges in the main forum) this will give you an idea of some of the fantastic work this community is doing for the children of South Africa.
