Hi Jen, a Merry Christmas to you too :) Yes, its very crowded here in Jbay at the moment, but we need the holiday makers to keep Jbay alive ;) That said I can't wait for January when all is quiet again.

Hi Gitta,    great to 'meet' you. I agree with the comment that the yarn 'Charity', doesn't go as far as other DK's. I knit mostly slip-overs in the round and I usually get a complete one out of 100g ball…

Hi!  I have just got back from a shopping trip to Shelly Beach and as usual paid a visit to my local yarn shop. I was thrilled to find a new DK yarn called Charity. It is being produced for the number of charity knitters around these days.…

I agree I'm smitten with the green and purple one though I love the patterning on the orange "sherbet" one. They're all lovely and look very soft.  You've been busy...this is awesome!

Jen, great idea to post the pattern...I just hope these slipovers are 3 inches longer than they are wide so they fit over swollen little tummies?  The colors are beautiful, I am sure these will be used and a blessing to the children.

Jen,

I'll be happy to help you if you want to try the heart puff pattern =)!  Here are my tips for using the alphabet and heart puff patterns:
1. Add one row of single crochet to the top and bottom of the pattern; otherwise it isn't quite square
2. If you find that your puff stitch isn't puffing out very much, change those instructions to "(yo, pull up a loop) 5 times, 11 loops on hook, yo, pull thru 10 loops, yo pull thru 2 loops, push puff to front of work, work next st."
3. If you're having a hard time pulling through the loops of the puff stitch, make sure you "yo, pull up a loop" LOOSELY.
4. I've found that these patterns make my hands/wrists/arms hurt, whether from the repetitive nature and small movements required for single crochets, or fighting with the puff stitches, so be aware of that, and work on a square with a different pattern or take a break if you need to.

And I'd be happy to help if you have any other problems that aren't covered by my tips =).

Dear Jen:

Sorry it took me till today to respond to your friend request from last October (!!!).  I just discovered that area of my "MY PAGE" this afternoon!

I hope you are doing well.  Around here, the February weather is enough to drive anyone INSANE -- four more inches of snow last night!

Say, who is that nice looking young man in your profile picture?  A grandson?

Dear Jen:

I reread your kind December comment and just wanted to say "Hi!"

How are you doing?  We got through Christmas well, thank Heaven.  Part of that was going to Vienna for New Years.  My sister and her whole crazy family came with us at pretty much the last minute.  With the bustle of travel and the noisy family we were mostly too busy to be too sad, for which I am grateful.

I wanted to send some words of support and admiration your way for the new year.  Your spirit and determination, your keeping yourself busy helping others, are a true beacon to others coping with the loss of dear ones.  Thank you and here's to a happier new year for all of us!

Donna

Hello Jen..thank you for your comments on my teddies and blanket. I am back now from my trip to South Africa and I loved it even more than my first visit last year. The Garden Route is spectacular none of my photographs of the Karoo do it any justice. I will add some pictures etc to my blog as soon as I can. I know Christmas will be a tough time for you this year, the first Christmas, the first birthday etc is always hard we do all mange to get through and grow stronger though there are times when you think it will not get any better. My best wishes....Julia

Hi Jen, My apologies to not have responded earlier; suddenly there were a lot of other things to do.

Thank you so much for the description of the plane jane square. It is almost impossible to imagine living in a place were you can see WHALES PLAYING! This must really be wonderful. I never have been in RSA, but all people I met who have been there, tell me that once you were there you want to go back.

It is christmas time; I wish you a very nice Christmas and hope to speak to you in the near future.

Warm regards, Anneke

Hi Jen,

It's nice to see you on the forum.

We are experiencing a snowstorm today so I will be sitting by the fire with my crochet hook finishing presents.....Maybe next year I'll start in August :-)

Hope you are keeping well.

Jen, yes it's me again. Your weather sounds great. As I live in the East Midlands our weather fortunately never seems so severe (famous last words). There is no rush for the pattern, I'm trying to get a portfolio of patterns together as I get bored doing the same stitches and like a challenge.
Take care, Barbara x and a big x for Ethan.
