You are lucky the storm missed you.  From photos on the weather network it looked like it did a lot of damage.

Good idea to stay in one place, You can really learn a lot about a place.  There are a couple of nice restaurants in Rocky Harbour...lots of fish meals:-)  Dave enjoyed the cod tongues and fisherman's brewis...with molasses.  Apparently that is the "traditional" way.  There is a lot to see in the Park and of course, the scenery is fantastic. We flew ( on points ) so had more time to look around. We want to go back and spend our time in the Park.

Hi Nina,

I`m delighted to be your friend.

Sorry we can`t get together this summer....but there is always next year :-)

Have you been to Newfoundland before.  We thoroughly enjoyed our trip there a few years ago.  May I recommend the Craft Council Devon House in St. John`s.  They have interesting displays and of course, crafts for sale !!!

How did you fare with the storm yesterday.  We lost power for 6 hours. When the storm blew over, the sun came out and people were able to bbq their suppers.  Also there were lots of impromptu family gatherings and people out walking and biking.

I managed to get a square made before it got too dark to see.

Hi Nina,

When are you coming north this year?  I was sorry we didn't connect last year.  Would be lovely to have a chat with another KASister !

Hi Nina,
You certainly have had a busy summer ! How was the wedding....beautiful of course . And the extra pleasure of having your sons home. It's great when family can all be together.
We were on Manitoulin Island this past week for a family get together. We took my parents down with us. It was my Dad's side of the family. At 88 he is the "patriarch" . We are fortunate that he still has his brother (83) and 2 sisters (80 and 75). It was great to visit with everyone....I saw relatives I haven't seen in years !

Hi Nina,
Just read Canadian Corner and saw that you were at Pukaskwa ! Next time you are going let me know (since you have to travel through the Sault ) and you can come for a visit and a cup of tea. It would be nice to meet a KASister "in person".

Hi Nina,
so glad you liked my slip-over, I love doing them. this is the pattern that Cathy posted:

Thanks for all the kind comments - This is a pattern I improvised so I'm more than happy to share it (I did remember to write the numbers down!). It really is very easy.

Here goes, let me know if it doesn't make sense as I'm not that used to writing down patterns:

I used chunky yarn and 6mm needles, will probably fit 8-10 year old.

CO 68 st
1st round - k12 place a marker (pm), k10 pm, k24 pm, k10 pm k12 pm

Round 1 - Purl
Round 2 - k to 1 st before marker, knit front and back of stitch to increase, slip marker, knit front & back of next stitch. Repeat for each marker.

Repeat rounds 1 & 2 until you've got about 148 stitches. On next round, cast off stitches between markers 1 & 2 and between markers 3 & 4.

Continue is stst (knit every round) until top is long enough (add some ribbing or garter stitch at the bottom for about 10 rounds then cast off.

I've just finished another variation of this with sleeves - To do this, instead of casting off sleeve stitches, place then on waste yarn and then use these stitches to knit the sleeves afterwards (I picked up 2 stitches underneath the arm to avoid a hole appearing here).

I'd be quite happy for anyone to try out this pattern and let me know how it works! It would be quite easy to vary the size by adjusting the number of cast on stitches or using different weight yarn/needles.

I used double knitting yarn with a 5mm circular needle but had to start off on ordinary needles as there were not enough stitches to get around the loop. After an inch or so I went onto the circular. If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. Jen xx

Hi Nina, back on the computer today. Yes, we do live in a beautiful part of Canada....and we are having a hot, sunny day ! I know it won't be exciting for you (in S. Ont) but our snow has been gone for a month. Most unusual for us. Last year we were still shovelling snow from the front lawn onto the driveway, to make it melt faster.
How is the knitting/crocheting going ?
