Hi everyone
Its been a while since I last posted but it is hectic in the home at the moment, Ruth and Kathleen have been knitting away. Jean is not feeling very well at the moment so her knitting is hit and miss but her heart is in it. We have a new lady called Doreen who is staying with us for a while, who is a member of a patchwork club in the village of Epworth which is five miles away from us and from what I understand she has already started knitting squares. She normally knits squares to make blankets for premature babies and on arrival at the home she was shown what our ladies are up to and the contribution they are making to the vulnerable and orphaned children of South Africa.
The ladies were delighted with an email sent from Susan, one of our friends from over the pond. They loved hearing about the springtime in (Tennessee -Apologies if I have spelt it wrong) They have also received a photo from the Knit a square team in SA. The ladies couldnt believe it. They were thrilled that they had got an acknowledgement for all their hard work, and it now takes pride of place in the residents lounge.
Plans for the knit and natter morning are coming along nicely and invites will besent out to all our residents families. We have had a positive response so its just making a date in May available. I will let you know the outcome.
Thats all our news for this month, take care of yourselves and keep knitting.
Chris and the ladies of Haxey. x

Comment by Christine Johnson on April 26, 2012 at 2:47am It's lovely to hear from you and your ladies Chris. Please give Jean our best wishes for a speedy recovery and thank Ruth and Kathleen for their continuing hard work. They certainly are appreciated and it's good to hear that they were pleased to hear from South Afirica. We all like to see the distributions - did you see the pictures on the KAS Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Knitasquare#!/media/set/?set=a.355301717838... of all the beautiful children being given blankets and hats from around the world?
