Well done Megan - you'll be getting as addicted as the rest of us if you're not careful.
(How many stitches did you need for future reference?)

I'm using US 10 and I need 27 stitches with worsted yarn.

There is a chart on this site for guidance to needle size/yarn weight
These are for stocking stitch. Garter or any other stitch will vary the size of square slightly

I am using worsted weight. But I don't think my question was understood. The guide "Yes we can make a difference." lists needle size as #4 US. I think that is incorrect it should #10 US.

However I have knitted a few squares using acrylic, because I had some, and 32 stitches on #10 seems to make the squares 8 1/2 to 9 inches wide. Does wool make a difference. I am trying to supply my grandchildren with kits to do this project and want to make sure I have everything right.

According to a chart I have US 10 are 6mm which is UK 4. Which is correct for you does depend on the yarn weight - does it have a band on?
