Square Circle Forum

Hello to all,

Like many of you out there, I have never written a blog before, but here goes, I'll give it a try!

I found out about KAS from a friend's Facebook feed, looking at her page one day I saw a picture of a blanket made of squares that she had sewn together, drilling down into the post I found myself viewing a wonderful video of beautiful people and children and immediately I wanted to be a part of it. I telephoned my sister and told her to have a look too. I started on my first square that day. My sister needed a refresher in knitting so we got together and she started her squares. She has since taught herself to crochet by using YouTube. Two months ago we decided to start our own Facebook Group and invite friends to knit with us. Our group is called Oz Knitwits and we now have 21 members, some of whom I have had to teach to knit as well as to crochet, including my 28 year old son. We are in Australia, but our group has members in the UK as well as SA. We have had the group for 2 months now. We also have members who are not on Facebook, like an 81 year old lady who has picked up her needles for the first time in 30 years and is absolutely loving being a part of what we do. We as part of the global human race are getting so much out of what we are doing, so thank you KAS for giving us the opportunity that we otherwise may not have had.

Oh blast Jo - I just tried to move you blog and I can't because it comes directly from your page - now I've really got you confused or you think I'm a total nut-bar.  Anyway - think about copying and pasting your post to the blog section or starting a group - your enthusiasm will inspire others on the forum

Hi Jo:  I really enjoyed reading your blog post - you sound like you have a real talent for motivating people!  I am so glad you found KAS.  I think we get more pleasure out of making things for "our kids" than just about anything else we could do.

I stumbled across your blog post when I signed on a few minutes ago and saw that Anne Lokken had replied to you.  Otherwise I might have missed it.  I imagine you might have posted this from your own page by hitting the Blog Post thingy.

I hope you will keep on blogging - you have already inspired so many people.  If it is OK with you I am going to move your post to the Category we have set up called Members Personal Blog Posts.  You will find the Category list by clicking on the forum tab in the menu bar.  Scroll down until you see Members Personal blog Posts, click on that and you will get a list of all the blogs.  These never disappear or get lost in the shuffle and when you want to add to your blog, just type your message in the Reply To This section - no need to start a new blog each time.... and you will always have a record of what you have written and the responses you get.

I hope I haven't confused you - if so, just message me

If your blog is going to be ongoing, you may want to rename it to something like 'Jo from Oz" or whatever you like, because you won't be a Newbie for long.  I really look forward to seeing more posts and hearing about the success of your group!  By the way - you can also start a Group if you haven't already.  I got a notice today that there was a new group to approve but one of the other Mods had already approved it - maybe you've already started one for Oz Knitwits??  I'll hop over to Groups now to see if you are there too.  In any case, I'll find you one place or another - keep writing!!

Dear Jo,  I enjoyed reading your post so much! You summed up the spirit of KAS right away... you've done a wonderful job of motivating people to take part and contribute and that's what this is all about.  The more hands we have to create squares, the more children we can wrap in love!!
