Square Circle Forum

Rastamom - DeborahJay starts her blog at KAS/SquareCircle

Starting out with a brief introduction:

This is my 60th year (b. 5 January 1953), which I'm devoting* to taking stock of my life: where I've been, where I'm at, and where I want to go before I'm through.

I'd like this blog to be a place for exploring and sharing my thoughts and feelings on matters that connect to SquareCircle issues, anywhere along the personal-to-global spectrum: women and children, families and communities, education and culture, caring and making a difference.

*...while continuing full-time work outside the home and relating to my family: wife to DH of nearly 30 years; mom to two university freshwomen DDs (b. 1/1988 and 10/1989); sister to two DBs living in the PNW, both parents recently deceased, R.I.P.; pet-rescue householder of (at present) one dog and three cats.

I'm Wikipedia editor Deborahjay, an ongoing effort in my fields of expertise (Holocaust, Israel, arts & letters).

I'm veryty on Ravelry (since 12/2010) and Flickr (where you can view my quiltmaking, which I hope to resume soon).

I was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Southern California, mostly Los Angeles County, which I left in 1984 to make Israel my permanent home but return to the States yearly for family visits.

I'm a grassroots and e-activist in the spheres of politics and Jewish identity, which I prefer to discuss elsewhere.

Health and nutrition issues are important to me and I'll probably join in the forum on these topics, especially where I have positive personal experiences to share.

And as soon as I can break away from my pre-weekend chores, I'll write about how I became Rastamom :-)

== yours truly,

Deborahjay (Deborah Schwartz Jacobs)

Have just had a chance to go through the links on your pages Deborah - very interesting reading. I see, creatively, you are a skilled patchworker - I do hope you will find some life balance to continue this as there is a deeper part of us that finds contentment and peace when working with material, needles etc., but we allow busy busy life to get in the way!  Can see you are very active, but hope you'll pop into KAS from time-to-time.
