Square Circle Forum

Hello dear KAS family

I can't believe the meteoric rate in which new members are joining us each week - it's fantastic. A very warm and personal welcome to everyone who has just joined.

Many of you will not be aware of some of the resources available on the main website, www.knit-a-square.com which are there to help you 'spread the word'.

KasCare's (that is the umbrella charity to which knit-a-square and KasKidsTM, the school program, belong to, has a primary mandate. It is to spread the word to the world about the issue of these children who have been abandoned or orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS and poverty and who we seek to warm and comfort.

So when you spread the word, you are doing two things. Firstly you are joining the grassroots movement we have stared with KasCare to raise awareness of the orphans plight and secondly you are finding more people to knit or crochet and send squares. We like to think that each square represents, warmth, love, comfort and is also a currency of hope.

RESOURCE NO 1: Square Circle Invitation
When we first started knit-a-square, we put up a page called Square Circle, aimed at encouraging people to start groups. It has an invitation you can download and print off and detailed suggestions as to simple ways to get groups together.

Please visit the site and think about getting a group together. And if you do, let us know as we love to show photographs of our Square Circle groups here in the forum and of course in Square Circle ezine.

Hi Sandy
I recently started a Knit A Square Circle in the nearby town of Kelso. We have now been going for just one month and i have found the resources really helpful. We have 7 main members but i also have a couple of ladies knitting for us that cannot make the weekly meetings and 2 other local craft groups knitting away for us in the back ground. We are planning a daffodil tea during April where i am trying to organise local businesses to donate prizes for a grand raffle which will hopefully give us some funds for postage.
If anyone is reading this that is also running a KAS group i have found that the monthly ezine goes down well! I print it of and put it into a folder so people can read it at the meetings as i have found most do not use the internet that much. I have also printed of photos of Ronda collecting the post etc. This really keeps people motivated.
My task at the moment is to make up 4 display stands to raise awareness, I just whish time was as easy to make as squares!
Help the kids! Please donate!
