Hi Rachel. Second attempt to reply...first one failed earlier today. For my regular squares I cast on 35 stitches for 8 ply yarn using 4 mm needles. For my diagonals I cast on 2 sritches...knit them, then in every row thereafter I increase 1 stitch at the beginning only of every row, by knitting into the front and back of the first stitch. Continue til you have 44 stitches. Knit 1 row. Then commence decreasing at the beginning of each row...knit first stitch, slip 2 nd stitch knit 3 rd stitch, then pass the slipped stitch over. Continue til 2 stitches remain, knit 2 together. ( ps.... I think there are a lot of neater knitters than me)
I am a knitter also Rebecca and learned how to crochet over the last 10 years or so. I never took any classes, just self taught with lots of trial and error, but now I enjoy both. Your knit hats are great. I like the patterns and yarn you use.
Hi Rachel, thanks for the welcome. I've been through Germany (on my way to Austria) many years ago, but know very little of it! I have been to Kenya in Africa and have considered going to South Africa, but never actually made it there!
Hi hon. I wish it was my hamster! I had several hamsters when a child. My favorites were Priscilla, a white one with red eyes, a real snuggle bunny and Sandy, a light caramel colored one who loved running up inside my blouse sleeves and popping out at my neckline! My cats would loooove it if I had some mobile crunch n' munch for them to "play" with. Yikes. Mind you I did have a geriatric budgie named Princie that the dog and cats wouldn't go near...he ruled the roost and pecked any tender noses or toes that got too close. What a character that bird was. Now, as for the hamster in my picture, I have sometimes felt as chubby as he looks! I hope I'm slimming down some...and I do love petunias but so do the deer here so they're just a fond memory. :) Good to talk to you!
Hallo Rachel! I took German in high school, but unfortunetly I did not retain much lol its so nice to meet you! Welcome to KAS! :) It is exciting to meet friends my own age on here! :D I just sent out a box to africa about a week ago. My grandma crocheted me a bunch for the cause, and i knit a few. (She's way faster than me hehe)
How is Germany this time of year? I live in north east U.S. and it is starting to cool down and look like fall. In a week or two it will be beautiful :)
So nice to meet you! Talk to you soon!
I was unable to crochet until recently, then I found some excellent video-clips on “You Tube” website about crochet tuition. I found after watching these for a while, that I had the courage to try it myself, and now, after some practise, am doing my own projects! Maybe you could have a look at the website yourself?
I was running a search-engine about knitting for charity, and found the KAS website. I signed up, and am in the process of making a number of squares to be sent off together, in order to save on postage costs. I like knitting little cardigans for newborns, and have made my niece a few items since her birth two years ago. I enjoy knitting mini garments for members of staff where I work, who all seem to be having babies at the same time! I work in a primary school as a Teaching Assistant, and am currently undertaking a lengthy at-home degree part-time, so as to be able to afford the mortgage! The hours suit me, as I would otherwise struggle to do both.
I'm twenty-seven years old, and live in Kent, about thirty miles from London.
What age of children go to Kindergarten? Is that the same as nursery age?
Postal costs for incoming parcels has risen alarmingly since mid-April
because of a new rule that ALL overseas parcels attract the customary
handling fee and that has been increased to R51.50 PER PARCEL[$3.74USD].
