I agree this is beautifully lacy and delicate and pretty looking and great for next to the skin. You really have a particular talent for doing these garments Mary. It's truly lovely. I too want to know the stitch! I believe I see some front post crocheting down the front, am I right?
Anne - they're just the right size and an easy shape to experiement an be creative, and use up bits of yarn, which makes them fun!
For this stitch you have to make a base row of dc.
turn and make a row of hdc.
turn, make a row 2hdc, 1fpdc (working in dc of base row), 2hc, 1fpdc, continue to end, ending with 2hc.
turn and make a row of hdc.
turn and make a row of 2hdc, 1 fpdc of fpdc 2 rows below, continue to end of row.
hope that's clear!
For anyone wondering what fpdc, it's a front post double crochet (I think I got that right). You can find a diagram of how to do it here.
It's wonderful, Mary..... as are all the things you make. I am putting it in our album right now. I am finding these are really fun and fairly quick to make - I love doing them. This is a particularly pretty stitch - can you let us all know what it is? I love it.
