Mabel's church group offered to take and distribute more than 200 blankets to children in the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, a place of great beauty, wonderful birdlife and extreme cold in winter; a place the world has not truly reached in terms of modern ways, where transport mostly happens on horseback and where poverty is rife.

Knit-a-Square was honoured to be able to reach Lesotho and so grateful to Mabel and her husband, and her church group, who overcame enormous practical issues to deliver so many blankets to children so needy of and deserving of the love and warmth and encouragement we love to spread.

  • What a marvelous expedition. Thank you to Mabel for her work for KAS.

  • Many thanks to Mabel and her church. It is wonderful to see KAS reaching more and more people.

  • Are the ladies in blue nuns?  Does anyone know?

    • Think the younger lady in blue is Mabel Roz.

  • It's really nice to see so many oversized Zanny T sweaters being worn by cold kids.  The bigger sizes make a lovely overshirt .

  • The newsletters are such a wonderful way to connect and educate me about so much in S.A. Cold temperatures in the mountains...why of course.

  • Many thanks to Mabel and her group of helpers.  So many people of all ages gathered in one place.  It would be nice to know what was the event.  I'm assuming it was a Sunday service.

    • And it looks like they were getting a free meal too, so vital when so poor.  Compared to them I am sooooo rich.  Good to be educated about people living like this, keeps me from griping at all.  I hope we're able to help them again or other remote people, it's very inspiring, gets my fingers itchy to start another project or dig out some UFO's and complete them and send them off.

  • Thank you  Mabel and team, you did a great job. xo

  • Thank you, Mabel, and all who were involved in overcoming the challenges to make this distribution!  It is heartwarming to know KAS is reaching so many dear children in such dire need. xo
