2024 BARN ACTIVITIES

This discussion will focus on all the weekly activities that take place on

Tuesdays as our volunteers gather together to open parcels, 

sort, organized, pack and distribute all things KAS.

    We are hoping to start distributing from next week as there is a familiar “nip in the air” in recent days, so winter is around the corner - we think !
     
    Blankets photographed and stacked on the shelves by Wandi 2 … how blessed we are to have his cheerful presence in the Barn ! AND he’s the only one who can climb the ladder without becoming dizzy 😂 … the wonder of being young and strong !

    Plus pics taken last month of the flourishing Tshokwane project under the great leadership of Kelly T … section ranger’s wife in the heart of Kruger Park !

    Since September, this group has made 2300 squares and Kelly herself has sewn together DOZENS of blankets ! The group is made up of women who live inside the Park - either as staff or wives of staff members.

    They have worked on creating beautifully knitted/crocheted squares … in searing heat mostly - throughout the summer … a truly amazing feat.

      Wow! Great work going on everywhere!! There is definitely a little nip in the air (at nightime) in the southern hemishere....Winter is on the way.

    You have brought back memories Estelle , from when I lived in South Africa. If the Cosmos were blooming it had to be Easter.

    I learned something from your posting, never realized they came from Mexico. Very interesting.

    An explosion of pinks, mauve and white…thanks Mexico they were apparently brought to SA in horse feed during the Boer War.

      It's very nice to see how you created a beautiful international blanket. All contributors used their national colours and you put them together. How clever

    Everyone in Johannesburg is struggling with the extreme heat this summer has brought … despite rain and hailstorms over last weekend we are still struggling!
    Prayers for Lindi please, as she is experiencing some health issues.
    Post is arriving in steady, small amounts - very encouraging.
