2024 BARN ACTIVITIES

This discussion will focus on all the weekly activities that take place on

Tuesdays as our volunteers gather together to open parcels, 

sort, organized, pack and distribute all things KAS.

    From Estelle dated July 9... sorry for the delay, we were hit by Hurrican Beryl and things are just settling down.

    Winter temperatures have reached freezing point in many parts, of Southern Africa…even the giraffes are feeling the drop in temperature.

    Once again KNIT-A-SQUARE has been the recipient of the beautiful bright squares knitted by Antoinette Nothling's team at the World Wide Knit in Public Day she arranged. Many thanks to all of you.

    We were kept busy all morning with a BIG parcel from France- is that one of the many you sent Valerie Zalewski. 
    Our first parcel ( that I know of) from Jamaica and many from our loyal contributors around the globe.

        Thanks Patricia.  The SA PO returned a big parcel of my blankets back to Australia for no reason. They had crossed out the Bryanston address and simply returned it to me from Johannesburg.  It arrived here the day after I sent off another parcel to KAS and one to JBay Recycling Project so I was doing a bit of a panic.  All seems to be good now. Also my phone had dropped my KAS forum link off for some reason, but I'm back now and catching up😊😊

    There was a LARGE blanket cake as you will see. Sadly I left the camera in the barn so will need to collect it tomorrow in order to send the photographs 🤭!

      I'm overjoyed to see that 7 of our 9 parcels from the Arinopa Café Tricot in SAINT Vaury have arrived. These ladies have worked so hard and created a warm, cheerful group which includes 2 super knitters far from their homes. One is from Afghanistan and the other, of Armenian origin , is from Ukraine. They don't speak much French yet and communicate with each other in Russian.

    Knit-a-Square was pumping yesterday !
    Peter and I drove to Pretoria on Tuesday morning, June18, to collect the huge contribution made by girls, teachers and families of St Mary’s Diocesan Convent … final count 2720 squares!

    We never managed to open parcels as the entire morning was taken up on this one project … many blanket packs added to the Gogo sewing project pile.

    Bernard collected yet MORE post today so both Estelle’s group and the KASbarn are preparing for bumper opening sessions on our respective days next week.
    We will visit Gogo groups next week to collect completed blankets and deliver squares … the wheels are turning faster again and we are all very happy… as always a HUGE THANK YOU to our fabulous contributors worldwide.
