Just wanted to say that last summer I invited members of my family to make square for KAS.  Over the summer we made 65 squares which I just mailed to South Africa.  My granddaughters did pretty well, but my 96 year old mother made the most...55 8" squares.  She is our inspiration and we are so happy to be a part of helping children in another part of our world.

  • Wow, Jean, that's wonderful!  Huge hugs to your mother for all her work.

Have you read about our KAS Reaches Great Heights for Children Challenge??  We are trying to do a stack of squares tall enough to reach the top of Table Mountain - that's 178,000 squares!

I hope you don't mind, but I've added your squares to the total since every square counts!

    • Thanks...its great to be part of this effort to help children.  I have eight children of my own..all grown, and 40 grandchildren!   We do love children!!

      • Oh wow, 40! You must have your hands full as a grandmother!
        • I am just trying to imagine being able to remember all their names, but it must surely be a fun time when you all get together.  :))

    • What a great team effort, Jean. Wow! Your mum must be a bundle of energy....she's terrific!!

  • Congratulations on mailing your first batch of squares! It is so satisfying to see the work of your hands providing tangible help as well as comfort for a child across the world.
  • Hi Jean, I've just moved your blog from Challenges into Personal Blogs - please do add to this anytime!

Your Mother was definitely an eager beaver!  Between you all you have made nearly two blankets - which means two more children will keep warm and healthy!  Great news.

    • Thanks Pam .. I am new to this website.  I am glad you put me where I belong!!!
