Hi everyone, I have just joined. I am still a beginner but looking forward to doing something worthwhile for the children. I am also looking forward to getting to know you all and chatting.

Also I am just having a look around the forums but can you send scarves you have knitted and small cuddly toys for the children as well as the knitted squares?

Thank you all.

Alison x

  • Welcome Alison! I can say that if your scarves are all the same length they might be sewn into a blanket in Africa.  That'd be something eh?  Toys are appreciated SO MUCH.  The children have never had a toy in their life and when they get a little stuffed one they are so excited and compare them and talk about them and try to carry them around on their backs like the mums carry their babies in back slings.  Toys are a blessing for the kids and often we "accidentally on purpose" let some small stuffed, knitted, crocheted or sewn dolls and toys fall into our packages.  Ronda has said they can use all we can send.  For kids who have nothing, a toy can mean the world! :) (there are photos of dolls and teddies on the Photos page, in the Featured items listing up top)
  • Hi Alison, and welcome. Sort toys are appreciated. Scarves will be accepted, but please  just put  ''charity knitting, no commercial value'' on all customs forms. Itemising contents of parcels could cause a tax to be levied on recipients.

I am in South Manchester, near Trafford Centre, where are you?

  • Hi, Alison!

I haven't seen anything mentioned about scarves, but they do appreciate the small cuddly toys.  A great place to look around for information about what they need is here:  http://square-circle-forum.ning.com/forum/categories/kas-wish-list/....  And then our current "challenge" (items they would like us to focus on right now) is found here:  http://square-circle-forum.ning.com/forum/topics/february-2011-chal....

    Welcome!
