I've been knitting since I was 9.  My aunt taught me.  I joined KAS because I wanted to do more than knit sweaters.  I want to make a difference and I can see how so many of us joined together can do so much good.

I chose KAS to knit for because of my late sister-in-law.  She wanted to go to S. Africa and help the AIDS orphans.  She passed away in March of last year from breast cancer.  Knitting for KAS is my way of honoring her and helping the orphans.

My first batch of squares will go out on Friday, Apr. 22.

Knit on!    Wanda

  • Hello Wanda, wonderful to have you on board, and how special that you are doing something in the memory of your sister in law. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
  • That is wonderful, Wanda.  Every square you knit you will think of her.  Be sure to join the US group if you haven't yet. Just go to groups and you will see the US group among all the groups.
  • Glad to have you with us Wanda.  Your first batch will definitely qualify for our February-April bus challenge so do post the number of squares over there on the tally.  Thanks!  :)  I agree, that doing something in memory of someone dear, is a super reason to help others.  I'm sure your sister-in-law is smiling about this, you've got a knitting guardian angel now.
  • Wanda what a lovely thought. You will enjoy being part of KAS.
  • Hello Wanda, glad to have you onboard!  What a lovely way to commemorate your good hearted sister-in-law, and, to do the very thing she wanted to do - helping the vulnerable & deprived children of South Africa.  Don't forget to add your first batch to the Feb-Apr Challenge - we dearly want to fill those buses.  As you say, Knit on!
