Official wish list

Good morning. I too appreciate the new info which will align what we do with what is most needed. I have just got my CWL group in Newmarket, Ontario to start making squares and have sent over 100 last month with another lot ready to go. I had been packing them rolled and squeezed into family sized Cheerios boxes (50-60) per box to fit the Canadian postal rates for small package but will try with a soft package. It's not a problem getting the squares..........it's the postage that's more difficult. Anyway, I think that every little thing we do to help is awesome. This is a long post but I have another question. If we slip in other items (like toys, pencils etc and finished goods such as sweaters) and mark them as 'no cash value', what happens if they are opened for inspection? Will there then be a charge and will future parcels be considered "suspect"? I would like to slip in some items I've collected but don't want to incur a cost for KAS.

  • Thank you for your considerate thoughts about posting to SA. I think the slip-in's are OK Christine, as long as one doesn't overdo it!  If you send commercially made sweaters etc it is best to cut the labels out as much as possible so they cannot be classified as 'new' - then they would not be subject to customs duties.  Mostly, the Customs offices around the world are scrutinising parcels for illegal substances, weapons etc.,  Therefore, I think parcels bound for KAS are unlikely to raise 'suspicions' it we take simple precautions like label cutting, removing price tags or tickets or in the case of socks those sticky labels that bind a pair together.
