My husband and I took a short holiday and travelled to southern Ontario to visit family.

We also took the opportunity to meet with several members of our KASfamily.

On Friday afternoon we drove to Uxbridge where we had a lovely coffee klatsch with Anne Powell and her daughter, Wendy Lewis. We met at Tim Horton’s, a Canadian institution.  I recognized them right away. Of course the fact that Wendy was knitting a variegated square was helpful!  We had a great time and the afternoon passed quickly.  We are planning the "second annual get together" for this time next year.

Next, Dave and I took a 'slight' detour to visit with Maudie Bryan. But, I hear you saying, Maudie lives in Tasmania, Australia.  Yes, she does! Right now she is visiting her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in Ottawa, Canada.  This was a fabulous opportunity to meet each other that couldn't be missed. Monday's weather was overcast and dreary.  The bright spot in the day was lunch with Maudie....good company, good conversation and good food. What more could we ask for!

(You will notice that Wool-Girl and Yarn-Boy are also visiting Canada.)

It has been such a delight to meet a few of my KASisters.  I hope there will be other opportunities for more of us to become acquainted.

The forum is a wonderful way to meet and share with friends but nothing beats sitting down face to face over a cup of coffee or bowl of soup.

  • Linda, thank you for sharing your visits with us! It it so wonderful to see pictures of you and Dave, Anne and Wendy and Maudie! Maudie???? Yes, indeed, what a lovely surprise! Beside the bad weather, so good to read that you had a wonderful trip!

    • Thanks Anneke.  It was indeed a wonderful visit with everyone :-)

  • I was very lucky to meet Linda and Dave, Laurie. I did not go to Quebec City this trip but I do know how beautiful it is. . Maudie
    • Thanks Maudie. Hopefully you will get to visit again or maybe we Canadian KASers will make it to Australia!

So lovely to see Yarn Girl and Wool Boy in person!

      • Now that would be fun !!!

  • This is just fantastic to see you all together! Thanks so much for sharing these great photos with us Linda, and to Dave the photographer! Wendy, you are not alone. The battery is exactly the kind of thing I would do!

What a coincidence that Maudie was in Ottawa. I really am envious, but so happy for you! If you make it an annual event, I will be there! :)

    • Laurie, we would love to have you join us !  When we set a date we will let you and Andrea know :-)

      • My calendar is open and ready! :)

  • What fun it was to meet Linda and Dave !  I'm sure we were the "noisy corner" at Tim's.  Dave proved to be our knight in shining armour - Wendy had brought along her camera and charged the battery just before leaving home.  The problem was - she left the battery at home!  Dear Dave, without even a mutter, went out and found their camera in the car - or else we would have had no photo!

We were all sorry that Andrea could not be there - but it was a weekday and she was probably working - but next time for sure, Andrea, we will try to get our act together so we can all meet for coffee. (Which reminds me - you and I have still not made it for a coffee at Upper Canada Mall - I will call soon, I promise.)

After a couple of 'misses', Maudie and I finally connected by phone - what a treat to finally be able to chat in person.

What struck me most about these two meetings was what 'kindred spirits' we Kasfolk are.  I felt like I was getting together with old friends.

    • Well Anne, we didn't get thrown out of Timmy's so we couldn't have been that loud.  Just very chatty LOL  Yes, it did feel like I had known you for ages.
