Just wondering if there are some issues with the KAS website, specifically the "discussion categories"? I am not seeing any new posts through the website beyond July 31, 2023. Thanks, Brenda

Here is Estelle's report from Tuesday, July 25.

Opening Day at the KASbarn July25 2023.

As you can see from our tables it was another busy day at the barn. We have had hundreds of very welcome squares from schools lately which all have to be counted, sorted and bundled. The Gogo groups are always eagerly waiting to collect them.

See what I mean about squares to sort and size….we all need to get cracking and clear those tables. I didn’t get a pic of your neat piles Sheldon Bolle thanks for all your help today especially moving all the heavy boxes and bags.

Oh, how wonderful this set of photos is! I see lots of squares, beautiful blankets, packages of bright yarn, smiling faces and children wrapped in warm blankets. What more could a person ask!!!

So many exciting things from Mandela Day 2023.

Opening Day at the KASbarn July 18 2023.

Happy Mandela Day to one and all. Today was all about getting 73 blankets to these dearest, beautiful children. Wandi, Ronda, Themba and I made our way to Soweto for the most heartwarming, happy and successful distribution…this made possible by our generous contributors. We are truly blessed.

We left Vivienne, LIndi, Sheldon and Liz holding the ‘barn’. They had the pleasure of opening new post and were visited by Party-Day Moloi and her colleagues who donated a most generous gift of yarn.

News from Estelle in a very cold Barn. Nightly temps have been at 0C, and Johannesburg and the surrounding areas had snow on Monday, July 10. Brrrr.

Opening Day at the KASbarn July 11 2023.

We have had two bitterly cold days in Johannesburg with snow falling for the first time in about 10 years.

Estelle and Vivienne display and model a jacket from a knitting club in Chalus, France.

Being involved with a charity like KNIT-A-SQUARE makes one immediately think of the children and homeless people who suffer as a result of the freezing weather. We are blessed and grateful to be able to distribute the blankets and squares joined into blankets made by our generous donors and volunteers. Long may it last!

A beautiful Mandela Day blanket Wandi made using Amy's LOVE square and large centre square. Absolutely LOVE the colours of our flag.

Those are the cutest hotties I’ve seen…they could even match our Rainbow Nation blankets! The ladies are holding the hotties.

What an amazing parcel to open…..thank you Ada Breeuwer for the exquisite blanket, your signature toys and super squares.

These delightful Eli’s and squares were also in Ada Breeuwer’s parcel. Christmas will be here before we know it.

Miz Viv wondering if anyone has perfect squares to match these squares.

Elaine has an eye for finding partners for the lovely squares arriving in the post and from our faithful local contributors. Our tables are filling up with colour again.

Another masterpiece by Sharon B from the USA. I wish you could have heard the Oohs and Ahhs in the barn Sharon…it’s exquisite.

It was a busy, cold day in the barn with the power continuously tripping causing much irritation waiting for the water in the urn to boil. However we managed to pack for the Mandela Day distribution and for some collections.

Vivienne and Wandi both did weekend distributions and sent us delightful photographs.

Glad to see that my latest package arrived in time for the cold weather, and maybe for the Christmas in July distributions. But, OH!, those fabulous squares and blankets and toys from Ada! I couldn't stop smiling.

July is a month filled with different celebrations all across the world.

The KAS Barn is celebrating with lots of new post arriving in The Barn, and being blessed by our amazing volunteers.

The new post from many of our loyal supporters and new followers was most welcome. Thank you. It’s like Christmas all over again opening parcel after parcel not knowing what we will find, then hearing a volunteer almost yelling “Wow look at this! “

Always great to get new post.
