Welcome to the KAS forum Kathleen! I am practically your neighbor, in northeast Georgia! We are so happy to have you here and hope that you will come back and visit often! You will find everyone very supportive and helpful, so don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
Your hats are so beautiful and I know they will be loved by the children! Thank you for sharing your talent with us here on the forum and I hope you will find yourself making good friends here!
I've sent my packages the cheapest way and it still costs about 75 cents per square which can add up to $20-30 for a group of about 25 squares and a hat or two. Ask the postal clerk for options and go with your budget. I reuse the heavy plastic bags that LL Bean uses to send out my orders. They are sturdy and light weight. Boxes add way too much weight and Tyvek or bubble wrap lined bags can be costly. Remember to mark the value as $0.00 or if you must put a value, put $1.00. Indicate that this is a gift, that there is "NO Commercial Value" and this package is "For Charity." This is to avoid any customs duty or tariff on the receiving end in SA. You can pick up customs forms at the post office and fill them out at home beforehand to save time at the post office. Congrats on your first package!
Hi Kathleen and welcome to the forum from England. If you find and join the US Group and re-post your question regarding people in your area I am sure that you will soon receive replies. Not everyone reads all the postings and it would be a pity if your request wasn't seen.
I hope you enjoy being a part of this very friendly and supportive community and we look forward to seeing some photos of your work. Any questions just ask - there is a discussion thread giving helpful tips but there is always someone happy to help with any queries you may encounter. Lovely to have you with us.
