Hello my name is lindsay and i live in canada.. I have friends who moved from cape town to my city and they are expecting a little boy.. I really wanted to make a baby blanket for them as the south african flag but im struggling find a knitting pattern... I was wondering if you would be able to help me please... This is extremely important to me and I know would mean the world to them as sometimes they are a little homesick... The baby is due on January 31st So thankfully i still have sometime to find the pattern and get it done..
Thank you so much for this and looking forward to hearing from you
Hello Thandy, so glad you’ve joined us. Keeping the children in South Africa warm has brought together a world-wide group of caring knitters and crocheters.
As you live in South Africa, you know first-hand the needs of the children. Are you able to help Ronda with the sorting and distribution ?
If you haven’t already, please read through the welcome message on the forum main page for helpful hints and things that might interest you. http://forum.knit-a-square.com
If you appreciate a “challenge”, you might like to join one of the Monthly challenges. This is a fun way to try new ideas or patterns. Every month, a theme is chosen, and if you wish, you may create something new and different......it could be using a new colour, a different stitch or a totally new way of knitting/ crocheting. An 8” square is the perfect size for experimenting.
And as always, making the basic square is a wonderful way to relax and still help the children. Plain Jane squares, as they are affectionately called, are the backbone of KAS. Since it takes 35 squares to make one blanket, squares are needed all the time.
Whatever you decide, we would love to see photos of your work. Click on the photo option at the top of the page, click “Add” and follow the prompts.
A very big Hello from KAS TEAM GB Thandy (we are in Olympic mode you see!) What a beautiful name you have. It is always extra special when someone joins the forum from South Africa. We are a friendly worldwide group who love sending things for the children. Hope to hear more about you soon.
