From The Barn to Limpopo

First batch of delight brought to this very impoverished area in Limpopo by contributors to KnitASquare from around the globe. I believe the kiddies and mothers’ delight is evident in many of these images I managed to snap in the blur of handing out. Cathy Riley, please thank all those who sent all the lovely baby blankets and matinee jackets. Was lovely to be able to give those as well!

I distributed 18 full size totals Limpopo this time.

I only had tiny toys for the children, but they were received with such joy and gratitude to KnitASquare contributors who sent them to us for vulnerable children like these. This delightful little girl danced with joy.

On June 20, Vivienne and Wandi 2 headed to Thembisa once again for a distribution to a new creche with precious children.

More warm children in this icy weather.

We gathered enough TOPS to distribute as well.

Great big heart from Karla was the center of my design surrounded by squares from Sharon Bedgood, Cathy Riley, and a couple from Carolyn Stone.

This little girl loved her blanket not sure where the LOVE squares came from. I got quite a few from Elaine Joubert and many others.

A Karen Gordon beanie, a Cathy Riley toy and about 20 squares Elaine Joubert recycled for me to make this blanket.

Amy's famous Lighthouse crab stitched together by Liz Gyldenhuis.

Dearest little chap…tractors from Ada Breeuwer another one put together by Liz.

Another Amy black edged squares from Elaine, turquoise squares from Patricia Underwood not sure about the rest. I’m blessed to have such beautiful squares to work with.

I loved doing this one. 99% of the squares are from Elaine.

This little chap didn’t even have his arm’s covered on such a cold afternoon.

This guy couldn’t stop thanking us for his blanket.

Chris Chiplen as we were short of a few blankets I took a chance opening your

parcel before our opening day knowing that you usually send completed.

A memory blanket I made last year for Jeanne Hessler. The squares were all made by her KAS friends.

I loved making up this blanket.

This mum was delighted to get this soft cuddly blanket for her baby from Anne Wolstenholme.

Estelle and Athele are back on Lion Park Settlement again for a distirbution on June 12. Thank you Athele for all these incredible photos.

We managed to spread a little bit of KNITASQUARE love and a whole lotta warmth and colour, especially of the Cathy Riley variety, including her 799 and 800th blankets donated to the vulnerable children of South Africa. You’re an absolute legend Cath your latest shipment came in time for all these of yours to make up a huge chunk of the 54 blankets my paddener Estelle and I managed to get to these children of the Lion Park settlement. Very grateful to all who made it possible, especially ma Lizzy (lovely pic of her and paddener at the end …) who keeps scrupulous account and makes sure every new child in the community and those who’ve not had before are those who now receive. It’s a privilege to be able to give something to children like these.

Thanks Lizzie for all you do for your community.

Good to have a reason to smile again. Thank you paddener for making it happen. You’re the glue that keeps it all together Estelle darling. Thanks for capturing this moment xxx.

Loved putting this together for you Cath. Do have a whole pic of it for blanket room . Noticed many children shoeless and in very thin clothing.

This is Cath’s 800th blanket if I’m not mistaken which I had the privilege of doing. Thanks once again Cathy Riley for making so many children happy and warm tonight.

I did this one most of the squares are from La vie Nouvelle and the

gorgeous soft giraffe is one of the many toys Bev Jerffery sent us.

Wonderful to see the Dream Team of Estelle and Athele back in action. I was thrilled to read that Ma Lizzy keeps a record of the distributions so that the children are all treated fairly.
