"Amazing Karen. You must be so chuffed with all these beautiful squares and blankets. I'm sure you loved seeing how each square turned out. I knit socks and love using up my tiny balls with a slightly thicker yarn. Sock yarn is so colourful. I…"
"WOWZA! What amazing collections you have created. The sock yarns are so varied and colorful, and you've used them to best advantage.
Likewise, the thicker yarns worked up into lively and cheerful squares, and those beautiful basketweave blankets…"
"I understand now why it took you a while to get round to photographing all these squares, Karen. You and Sharon have certainly excelled yourselves this month."
"I just LOVE the way you use up every last bit of yarn......and if you didn't say so, none of us would know that they were 'scraps' of yarn. They all look like 'new purchases' balls of variegated/patterning yarns. You are SO clever, Karen! xo"
"My good friend Bev is a prolific sock knitter and finds that she regularly has large amounts of spare fine wool left after doing each pair. She gave me this large collection of oddments (left) so I set to making an array of different squares, 35…"
Three different aran ply wools used here to make a total of 25 garter stitch squares.
(A very good friend I visited lately gave me both the jazzy primary colours half cake which made 6 squares, and 2 Madame Tricote berry coloured cakes too…"
"
I had 1Kg of aran which struck me as seeming very like a tiger so I started to knit with it for the South Africa theme earlier this year.
I teamed it with a light beige and made a large sized blanket and once I'd finished I realised there was…"
Hi Patricia, yes you're right I haven't been active on here for almost two years, but thankfully my meeting up with Karen will change that! Thanks for accepting! Linda
Thank you so much Patricia. I haven't been "visible" on the forum, but behind the scenes I was doing my "job"for KAS and we had a busy time here. I saw all the beautiful items that were made but wasn't able to comment, and naturally I missed the forum too. xo
A warm welcome to Knit A Square, from over here in Western Australia. :))
Knitting or crocheting an 8" square or two or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the children. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world. You are encouraged to knit/crochet in any stitch you prefer, but we do ask that they not be too 'lacy' as warmth is our highest priority. PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone to all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page you can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/wish-list-2017
Clicking on the 'Helpful Hints' tab at the top of the page, will possibly answer many initial questions you may have .Any other questions...please ask...we love to help. :)) You can also find a packing slip (which goes inside the parcel) to send with parcels there.
If you'd like to see what other KASers have been making please click on the photo tab at the top of the page....and feel free to add photos of your creations...we would love to see them. Just click on 'add photos' and follow the prompts.
If you want to see the most active discussions at present, you may like to click on the 'main page' tab and they are listed in the centre of that page...just pick one and click on it. It is a large website, but with so much fun and info.

Hi Patricia, thank you for the kind comment on Rachael's blanket, I'm hoping to see it wrapped around a child one day, Diane
