Selling Vintage China to raise funds

Through the years I have accumulated lots of china, nothing of great value, but pretty. In November I decided that a lot of my china (most of it in boxes in my attic after down sizing some years ago), could be 'put to work' to raise funds for KAS postage. A Cardiff Tea & Cup Cake shop rent out shelves for a month to crafters to display and sell their crafts. They kindly allowed me to rent a shelf to sell some of my china. I priced things low and was delighted to learn that many children were happily buying gifts for mummy and granny for Christmas. I was so pleased that some of my bits and pieces not only raised money for KAS, but were bought and given as gifts by children. £75 was raised, and numerous KAS info cards were taken. At the end of November I had a table at a craft fair, organised by a local charity that work with disadvantaged young people. It was a lovely afternoon, but unfortunately it was only for 4 hours in a quiet area. The table was informally voted the most attractive table at the fair, and I had lots of KAS info on display. The laminated 8" squares were taken by those interested My joy was the number of children buying gifts for their mothers and grannies, who were so pleased that their money was helping children less fortunate than themselves in South Africa. They each had a little KAS card with their purchase. Some elderly ladies treated themselves to something that caught their eye. A friend who helped me has volunteered to help again this year, hopefully at a busier venue and for a full day. We raised £50 I am very limited in what I can do to fundraise, as I have limited mobility, but through these simple fund raisers, I felt that I was still able to 'do my bit'. So, not great sums of money, but every penny helps, and who knows where the KAS seeds may grow?

  • I forgot to take a photo of the table at the craft fair! But the china arranged on my dining table was on my table at the craft fair.
