Starting a Knit-A-Square Group at Work

Any suggestions for hand-outs or other materials for starting a Knit-A-Square group at work? A friend and I are going to do this. We have sent an email announcement and an announcement on the electronic bulletin board, and have interest so far from at least 4 colleagues.

Our first get together for this effort will be April 6. We've thought of gathering patterns to share. But I was wondering what kinds of visual aids or something might help sort of "set the stage" to get us kicked off. The materials would need to lend themselves to electronic sharing, such as WebEx or the like, since we are a company that includes a good number of homebasers as well as in office folks.

Suggestions from others who have started a little group like this would be welcome.

Thanks! - Karen

  • Excellent Karen! I look forward to hearing how the 6th of April goes.

    • Thanks, Kalai, will do.

  • Hi Karen, this is a great idea and many work groups have been able to collect a huge amount of squares, so it is a fabulous way to contribute and to create a community.  We have a KAS on a page flyer which you can download from the site here: http://www.knit-a-square.com/knit-a-square-resources.html.  There are also how to knit installments on the site, posters, cards and rulers.  They are all digital.   Have a look and let me know if you need anything else.   The resources have not been updated since 2010 and so they may need to be.   Sandy

    • Thanks, Sandy. I had not noticed the Resources tab. It looks very helpful.

  • This is an excellent idea Karen, I'm sure as soon as members who are involved with groups see this you will receive some replies.  Sadly, I'm not a knitter and haven't organised a such a creative group.  You might want to check out the array of groups on the Groups tab on the menu bar across the top of the page, to see what they discuss or get up to!  Maybe at your first meeting you'll come up with an original name to describe yourselves! Good luck.

    • Thanks Pam. I hadn't noticed the Groups tab, I will check it out. The name idea is good too. Thanks again.
