I think a friend's Mum can crochet, next time I see her I will ask if she could show me just one stitch, (just enough to do some squares would be good). I do love to learn new skills and if I could do some crochet as well as knitting it would add a bit more variety for me LOL!
How exciting, you are going to SA - when are you going and for how long? Be very careful if out riding alone........my husband rode the Tour of SA for GB (late 90's) and when they went out for leg loosener rides between stages they had to have armed riders with them for safety (imagine seeing a gun in the back pocket?) - they were not allowed out on the road without them. However, things may have changed now, but please be very very careful and find out which roads are safe and which are not (and I don't mean traffic related safe!). Are you going to see KAS in action? that would be so wonderful.
My husband and I are cyclists, so whilst the 3 major tours (Italy, France, Spain) were on my needle ouput increased! The Worlds have started this week so more TV time! we also love athletics, and our winter sport to watch is Biathlon - love it! what other sports do you watch? we don't follow Rugby or Football but will watch the important games at World Cups. I am concentrating on squares at the mo' to send to Jigsaw, but I am getting bored with them! slippers are waiting to be created....I love them! xx
Thank you, Julia-I have just had a look at both slipper patterns and have scribbled them down so that I can have a go this evening (my printer is out of ink since a visit home from my 23 year-old daughter!!)
Hi Julia, I've just posted a photo of my crochet version of your slippers. I was greatly helped by being able to see the ones Pam J. had knitted from your pattern. If you're happy for me to do so, I'll post a pattern for these as "Crochet version of Julia's slippers". Elaine
How I agree, Julia. If anyone asks what I want for birthdays, Christmas etc, I now say "a ball of wool please". This begs the question "why", and brings the conversation round to KAS. Had two friends here today from York so I showed them squares, hats, half-finished teddy, KAS fliers etc and they were really interested and promised to spread the word in York, and look for cheap wool in charity shops there, so a day well spent!
Hi Julia. Thanks for message. Have had a look at Anderson's site and the little footballs are lovely. Think I'll order some straight away. I've also taken Christine's advice and looked at the Book People site and found 50 Mr Men books for £30. The gas bill will have to wait! Love your blog and photos. KAS seems to be taking over my life. Am at present knitting two squares at once, a hat and a teddy bear. Great fun to have someone to knit for. Like you I used to "inflict" my Arans, Guernseys etc on my family, but now it's just me and my brother. He's still wearing sweaters I knitted for him 20 years ago, so doesn't need any more! Thanks again. Belinda.
