Hi Dawn, lovely to be back in touch. I confess I do have time just at the minute, but will be busy with decorating again very soon! At the moment Graham is finishing off the guttering and drainage of the conservatory (which will be more like a utility room with storage/fridge/freezer etc in it), then I'll be out with the paintbrushes again. Your knitting is fantastic, all of it, but I love your teddies! I've bought a garage this week too, so will be working on that later. I've been finishing off a load of hats for another charity. Are you ready for Xmas? Love Lynn
Hi again Dawn, I hope you are well? Yes we are in the bungalow, which is why I lost contact with everyone and everything, I changed my service provider and had to re-register with KAS. We are still building though, have put on a porch at the front of the place and currently putting a biggish conservatory on the back. So still busy. Your teddies are so nice, how many have you made now? Is your son away at University now, I know he was looking around a while back. I'll hopefully stay in touch now. I have to whizz as I have just bought a garage. Bye for now, take care, love Lynn
Hi Dawn, sorry I lost touch with you, I had to change my email address and everything on my old computer is currently up in the roof space. So, this is my new email address: lynnblake@talktalk.net.
Hope you are ok? It looks as if you have been very busy with your knitting, the teddies are so cute, someone is going to get a nice surprise and new friend with these. Bye for now Lynn
Yes it was nice to see my jumpers in the photographs. The first of my things I have seen in a picture on the site. I am doing hats at the moment....I am a bit "squared out" !!!!!! so having looked at the Wish List thought I would do some hats for a change.
Hi Dawn
I saw on the wish list thread that you are concerned that your parcels have not arrived. On a quick glance down the squares lists I saw that your name appears on 21.6.10 : 4 Beanies 7 squares and on 16.7.10 1 sweater and 45 squares so your items are getting there.
Ronda never lists items other than knitting but when the new system is up and running shortly we will be able to see exactly what has arrived. If you have a printer you will be able to print off a label with a bar-code and receive an email as soon as the packet arrives in South Africa. The system is being trialled and seems to be working so it shouldn't be long before it's operational. Then if you keep a note of what is in each package you will know precisely what has reached its destination.
Knitting needles do cost a lot to send and I have found that although one can frequently buy them cheaply in charity-shops I usually only buy non-metallic ones and only send about one pair per package. Even then it makes it a bit obvious that there is something other than knitting in the parcel. Although it incurs duty I try and send the occasional box and so far everything has arrived. I'm sure your items are arriving and there should be some new lists on the site soon according to Sandy.
Hello Dawn, I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were, hope you're good?? I'm fine and moving to the bungalow this weekend. It's far from finished, but, all the essentials done, the rest is things like building the porch, extension and other odds and ends. We have had awful weather for at least 6 weeks, more wet than dry and recently the strong winds too. I've had my 4 grandsons home from Germany, which was lovely. but now I am looking forward in a week or two to being able to settle and get back to my crafts. Having a few days on the Isle of Wight in September, so hopefully will be ready to go with knitting in the Autumn.
Which University did your son go for in the end, or is he still going to Leeds?? Have a great week, great to hear from you. Lynn xx
Dawn you are so lucky to be given wool again. I did manage to get six 100gram balls DK with wool content yesterday reduced by 75p a ball.
I think the little slippers would be good to send that you made and they would be another good way of using up bits of leftover colours.
Hello Dawn...I knitted the "little squares" as one square. I use two strands of DK wool 30 stitches 54 rows works as an 8x8 square for my knitting. So I do 10 stitches of three different colours for 18 rows then change to three different colours 3x10 stitches for the next 18 rows then another 3 colours x 10 stitches for the final 18 rows. They are a really good way if you have lots of bits left and get bored with doing striped squares....just a warning the worst thing is sewing in all the ends!!!!!!!!!!
