We are so pleased you have joined us, a circle of caring friendsand volunteers from all over the globe determined to make a difference in a child life stitch by stitch, one square at a time. Spread the warmth and knit a square.”
Hello Susan. Welcome to KAS. You'll find us a very friendly bunch, with members from all over the world. We come in all shapes and sizes and colours, but have one uniting aim....to help the vulnerable children in South Africa.
I live in France at the moment. I was born in Cheshire, in Upton.
Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have. There's a lot going on in the Forum and it's not always easy to find the information that you need.
A warm welcome to Knit A Square..... from over here in Western Australia.
Knitting or crocheting an 8" square or two or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the vulnerable children of South Africa. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world. You are encouraged to knit/crochet in any stitch you prefer, but we do ask that they not be too 'lacy' as warmth is our highest priority. PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone to all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page you can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/wish-list-2017
Clicking on the 'Helpful Hints' tab at the top of the page, will possibly answer many initial questions you may have .Any other questions...please ask...we love to help. :)) You can also find postage information and a packing slip to send with parcels there.
If you'd like to see what other KASers have been making please click on the photo tab at the top of the page....and feel free to add photos of your creations...we would love to see them. Just click on 'add photos' and follow the prompts.
If you want to see the most active discussions at present, you may like to click on the 'main page' tab and they are listed in the centre of that page...just pick one and click on it. It is a large website, but with so much fun and info.
Here is a new discussion in our forum that you may enjoy reading.
