We look forward to you posting pics of your squares, when completed, but no pressure. :))
I hope you enjoy being part of this wonderful community of crafters. I have made some great friends here and there is no greater joy than knowing how our love of crafting makes a difference to the lives of the children. If you should get the chance to meet Ronda and the volunteers of Team South Africa, I am sure you will be inspired, as I am when I read of their endeavours.
Welcome Sonal ! So glad you have joined us. As a South African you understand the difficulties the children face every day. You are close enough to drop off your squares personally. Those of us in different parts of the globe wish we could do that :-)
Are you able to volunteer for Knit-a-Square ? The volunteers meet on Tuesday at the office in Randburg to open the mail. Perhaps you would like to assist in opening parcels and sorting squares. The volunteers say it is like Christmas every week :-) Please phone ahead for office opening times. The number is: 082 655 5150 Linda PS On the forum, we would love to see photos of your squares and just 'jump' into any conversation that interests you :-)
Knitting, crocheting or looming an 8" square or two, or possibly even a few is a wonderful gift for the children. They love to receive their blankets, created from squares, which come from kindly, caring folk such as yourself, from over 60 countries all over our world. PJs (Plain Janes as they are affectionately known) are the backbone of all our blankets. These are single colour squares that are in garter stitch(knitting) or single crochet as they are very solid and provide a contrast to a picture/striped/patterned square or two that may be added to a blanket.By clicking on the KASpattern book tab at the top of the page or our other square pattern discussion http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/member-s-patterns-squaresyou can also find lots of patterns provided by our fellow K-A-Sers. If you would kindly check out our wishlist, you can see what items we are currently focusing on. http://forum.knit-a-square.com/forum/topics/wish-list-2017
Clicking on the 'Helpful Hints' tab at the top of the page, will possibly answer many initial questions you may have .Any other questions...please ask here
If you'd like to see what other KASers have been making please click on the photo tab at the top of the page....and feel free to add photos of your creations...we would love to see them. Just click on 'add photos' and follow the prompts.
If you want to see the most active discussions at present, please click on the 'main page' tab and they are listed in the centre of that page...just pick one and click on it. It is a large website, but with so much fun and info.
F.Y.I here is our 2018 themes list....these themes are just for fun and there is no pressure to join in. ANY squares you would like to make are most welcome and much appreciated. :))
