Hi Sonia, Please go to the US Forum for current information about a fund drive to provide Ronda with a newer vehicle to take blankets and hats to the creches and squaresto the stitchers. Donations in any amount welcome.
Good news!! Humble Stitch Project from FL will sens our squares to SA if they receive them by Dec. 15th. Mailing address on the US Forum group.
Hi Sonia, Did you make it to the Maryland yarn expo? I thought about going but was just too busy with end-of-school activities and testing and reports. I hear the Soweto GC sang at the opening ceremonies of the soccer gams in SA. I missed it though! Hope all is well.
Debbie
Sonia,
We are planning to be there at 6 pm or so to unload all of the blankets, set up the table, rehearse the girls, etc. By 7 pm, there will be a free workshop in the lobby with a music professor and 2 members of the SGC. Then our girls will sing at about 7:30. If you can get there early, please do! Any time from 6:30 on would be wonderful. We'll need people to hand out fliers and rulers as the audience files into the theater, people to "person" the table and talk about KAS and collect donations, etc. Thanks so much! I look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
Good luck with the hats -- they are so fun. I live up north in Morris County, so Phillie is not as close for me. Enjoy yourself at the concert and hopefully we can meet in person some other way during the coming year.
Sonia, I am the person collecting squares for the Soweto Gospel Choir concert. If you'd like my address, please send me an email at dposmontier@comcast.net and I'll forward my address to you. Thanks so much!
Hi Sonia, Welcome to the Forum. I've been knitting and crocheting KAS squares and blankets for almost a year now and it's been very rewarding. I also contribute to the Knitting for Hope group that we have here at Novartis where I work. Looking forward to keeping up with you. ;0)
A warm welcome to our KAS square group...we are from all over the world and the U.S. I myself am from Washington state......we all enjoy each others company a lot, plus lots of fun to make squares and hats and what ever else is needed....sure glad you joined us...
Welcome to our warm KAS community. We hope you will enjoy the forum and your region's group. You should join the USA group!
There are lots of great discussions going on in the forum, including the monthly challenges.
We are still continuing our July Challenge - keep a newborn warm, making blankets for abandoned babies, and there were some great results for the August in Africa challenge - you can see photographs under the photos menu. (Details of both challenges in the main forum). We're also continuing our September challenge which is also under "challenges" in the forum and have begun the October challenge which is fascinating, please see click the link for further information:
