Hi everyone
Its been a while since I last posted but it is hectic in the home at the moment, Ruth and Kathleen have been knitting away. Jean is not feeling very well at the moment so her knitting is hit and miss but her heart is in it. We have a new lady called Doreen who is staying with us for a while, who is a member of a patchwork club in the village of Epworth which is five miles away from us and from what I understand she has already started knitting squares. She normally…

Hi everyone, I would like to say a big thank you from myself and the residents of Nicholas House Care home in England for the very warm welcome and the many emails received after joining this fantastic community last week. I would now like to introduce Ruth, Jean, Kathleen, Dulcie and Marrie, these are the ladies who are knitting for the children. These ladies age range from 87 to 97 years of age and it is quite suprising how nimble and how fast they are producing squares and vests for the…

Jan Wilcox said… I am glad to be friends with you ladies. You do great work and itsn't it great to feel useful? Besides KAS I am active in HAP ( Homemade Afghans to thank our armed forces project), and was active with Share a square but this is their last year for awhile. Of course also still making pillows with Mom for injured servicepersons. Jan

Pam Johnson said… Hi Chris, Can't wait to "meet" the rest of the ladies. I keep considering contacting more care homes around here but at the moment I forward knitting from about 30 local ladies and it stretches my fund raising for postage to the limit. But hopefully in the future... It is such a great two way project - the ladies have a cause and a purpose and the children benefit - if we could get this going in every care home just what a difference it would make to all.
P. Jeanne Haessler said… Welcome to KAS, Chris from across the Pond in the middle of Canada. That's fabulous that your residents want to help out. They will be angels to these children, giving them warm clothing and blanket squares, hats and even knitted toys. We've very glad to have you all with us. I find KAS such a rewarding cause to be involved in and I hope you enjoy it too. Do check out the New Member Guide which is found by clicking "Main Page" in the header above. To reach the Discussions just click Forum above and if you click on Photos above, you will see items that are heading to Africa, in all colors and shapes, plus those that have arrived there. If you click on Groups, above, you can join the UK group, whose members are always on the go, or any groups you wish, to chat with. Any questions just PM me. :) So, welcome to Knit A Square! Blankets and hats and sweaters direct from our hands to their hearts, a win-win.
And now we’re helping out over in Zimbabwe too and they need everything over there. I just love making a real difference in a child’s life. So welcome aboard!
Welcome Chris :)
