"I do have a knit radar on one of my machines, but none of the mylar sheets to use with it, so I've never actually tried to use it. I still have to swatch though, and this is an excellent point about keeping those swatches for KAS! :D"

Knit Radar for easy 8" squares

I have an old chunky knit Knitmaster machine which also has a knit radar attachment for creating garments to any size, shape and pattern. To do this you work a tension square for the yarn and stitch pattern. which gives the number of stitches and rows for 10cm. Simply doubling the number of stitches and working double the number of rows on the scale gives a perfect 8" square. When the garment is done its easy then to knit up a few squares with leftover wool!cheersPriscillaSee More

Hi Priscilla, yes lots of people use the squares as a way to experiment with patterns and to use up all the left overs from other projects. My mom and sister are both keen knitters so I always get their odd bits to use up. You never know what you might be given or how the squares will turn out. I guess that is why we end up with such a huge variety of squares and that's hwat makes the blankets so special. I have only been crocheting since last August and joined the forum in September although I was taught to knit when I was little. Look forward to maybe seeing some pictures of your work.
