"I also wondered how you learnt to crochet, I understand the stiches, but cannot hold the hook correctly, I try to do it like knitting.   I think the squares look so good in crochet.   Hope you have a good flight.   Jean"

Hello Jean

Thankyou for letting me know you received the squares, and huge thankyou for helping me out.  The response to my request/plea (!) for help was amazing, just shows how many lovely hard working people there are on this forum, who really care.

Thankyou again

Kathyxx

Jean - you put my efforts of volunteering to shame.  Well done on receiving that special award.  Many years ago Sir Ian Mclelan,  the actor, was on a phone- in on Radio 4 in the morning during half term.  His comments created quite a stir in broadcasting but helped me with my understanding of homosexuality.  Education is empowering.

Hi Jean

I was interested in your comment about working for an AIDS charity - is that your work or are you a volunteer?

I am David'sgrandma because he was my only grandson for 4 years and I looked after him for a day a week before he went to school - I really enjoyed those days.  Then within the space of 9 months, David went to school, I retired, having worked an 80% week for a couple of years, and both daughters had sons.  So I am now grandma to 3 grandsons. David likes to help me with all my crafting activities.

To join the UK Group, click on the Groups tab on the menu bar near the top of the page, on page 1 or 2 you'll find a picture of Big Ben, click on the pic and near the top of the discussion page on the right there should be a message :  + join UK group or knitters.  Click on that message and you should finally be able to say hello to the rest of us!  If you have any further problems please do not hesitate to ask again - these pages can take a bit of getting used too!

Hi Jean, Welcome to the KAS forum and I hope you enjoy being part of this friendly & lively community. Do you knit or crochet or both? Around the world caring people are all taking direct action and team-working with the Ladies of the Soweto Comfort Club - it is making a difference to many parentless children.  When you've had a chance to look around the site you would be very welcome to join the UK group for more local news and chat.

You can also personalize your own page by clicking on the My Page tab on the menu.  Also you can access Settings on this page and set your privacy terms.

Glad the Evening Standard directed to you our team!  Check out the New Member Guide by clicking the "Main Page" tab above. There you will find all kinds of information about KAS, also check out the Photo tab for inspiration and support.

PS If you have a copy of the Evening Standard which mentioned KAS we'd love to see it.  Many thanks.Pam
